Site Specific Details

Approximate size of backstage storage area: 10’x10′

Location of start line: Stage Left

Location of finish line: Stage Right

Load-in and load-out procedures: There is a garage door that opens up into the theater from the outside.  U-Hauls/trucks may pull up on the grass directly next to this door to unload. If participants are uncomfortable driving on grass, sets will be carried in from the bus lot parking lot (where u-hauls/trucks can pull up alongside the sidewalk to unload). It is not a long distance but it will be over sidewalk curbs and grass to reach the garage door.

Size of playing space: 20′ deep x 40′ wide. There is an apron space at the front of the stage that has steps on either side. The apron measures at 6.5′ deep and 37′ wide. (The apron depth is included in the overall 20′ deep measurement). View the stage diagram.

Tours of the space: Teachers are welcome to arrange a tour of the space after school/rehearsal hours (beginning at 6:00pm) or during the school day from 9-10am. Please email host for appointment.

Cue Sheets and Program Pages: Please submit light cue sheets to Shalen Daniels: shalen.daniels@ucps.k12.nc.us. Program pages should be submitted to Casey Starkey: casey.starkey@ucps.k12.nc.us.

Lighting: Lighting will be limited to warm color washes only. Light cues will be pre-programed into the board prior to the Festival.  2 follow spots are available for use and must be run by your students. View the lighting plot.

Sound:  An aux cord will be provided.

Headsets: Headsets will not be available.

Booth Location: The lighting/sound booth are located in the same place at the back of the house in an enclosed room. The same student can run sound and call light cues, if desired.

Piano/Orchestra Set-up: A piano is available upon request. Keyboards can be plugged at the front of the stage to be utilized onstage or in the wings. An orchestra can fit on the floor of the house directly in front of the stage and before the house seats begin.

Car and Truck Parking: All vehicles entering for the Festival need to enter the school from the side entrance that has a painted rock at the front (not the main one). If vehicles do enter the main entrance, they should immediately go to the right (not follow the roundabout to the front of the school) and enter the parking lot for the Professional Development Center. Cars, U-Hauls and trucks may park in that parking lot.

When entering from the side entrance, turn left into that first parking lot and park there. Do not park in the farthest back parking lot as that space is reserved for school buses.

Bus Parking: Buses need to enter from the side entrance and enter into the bus lot entrance. Buses will be guided to pull along the sidewalk area and drop off students. There will be a point person there to guide the buses to the bus parking location which will be a grass lot area located near the Professional Development parking lot. There will be students helping to navigate parking all day.

Meals: Participants will be able to utilize the cafeteria and outside eating spaces. The cafeteria is located directly outside of the theater in the main lobby area. The cafeteria space can be used on Friday evening and all day Saturday. During the day on Friday, groups may eat outdoors only. Groups may deliver meals to the school. Participants will not be able to purchase food from the cafeteria to eat. There is a Subway located less than 2 miles down the road as well as many fast food restaurants within 10-15 min from CATA on Hwy 74.
