Essential Information for High School Teachers

What is NCTC College Day?

College Day is an all-inclusive theatre event bringing students in grades 9-12, graduates taking a gap year, and transfer students together with college theatre departments in one place. Colleges from across North Carolina and surrounding states are invited to view high school students’ auditions and design or technical portfolio presentations, and to meet prospective students at our College Fair.

Why should I attend NCTC College Day?

NCTC College Day connects high school students and their parents to NC’s College and University Theatre Programs. High school teachers are also a vital part of the support network for students, and a big motivator for students planning to attend college. High school teachers are invited to observe auditions, browse the portfolio presentation room, and network at the College Fair. Attend NCTC College Day to support your students and gather information and insights into what colleges are looking for and what they’re offering. Take back all you’ve learned and pass it on to the rest of your students, as you continue to guide them on their journey.

How is this different from other College Fairs?

At most college fairs, the admissions department represents their school. They may not know specific theatre department details students have questions about. At NCTC College Day, you and you students meet with theatre professors and current students from the schools! They can answer questions about majors offered, performance opportunities, student life and more!
