Eligibility and Registration Procedures

Each site will host a maximum of 10 performances. Festival participation is limited to NCTC member schools. Schools that have not yet renewed NCTC membership for 2012-13 may renew upon registration for the Play Festival.

A list of NCTC current member schools can be found here. If you have additional questions about your membership status, please contact amanda@nctc.org.

North Carolina public schools, private schools, magnet schools and charter schools are eligible for Middle School Play Festival participation. All other groups will be considered on a case-by-case basis and must contact NCTC to seek permission to register. Request permission by emailing angelahays@nctc.org prior to December 15; no special cases will be considered after this date. All students participating must be enrolled in the registered school and must be in grades 6-8.

Each school may register up to two productions, but the school must register both shows together. Schools must select one teacher, school representative or adult to serve as the contact person for their production(s). The designated contact is the only person who should contact NCTC or the host site regarding questions or concerns. Nothing in this paragraph should be construed to mean that guest artists cannot be involved with the rehearsal and production process.

Site Scheduling

Site schedules can vary and may be found on your site’s website page. Please plan to attend the entire festival day, as watching other productions is just as valuable as performing.

Schools may make a request for performance time during registration. Special requests cannot be guaranteed. Please limit these requests; only list a request if you have a major conflict. All registrations and special requests are processed in the order in which they are received.

Fees and Financial Policies

Membership: All schools must pay organizational membership dues. These dues are based on theatre department budget size including teacher salaries and production budget. Organizational membership for a school district does not constitute membership for each school in the district; each school must join NCTC. You can find more membership information here.

Registration Fees: Festival registration fees are $325 per show. Schools may register up to two productions. Schools may bring an unlimited number of students, there is no per-student fee. Teachers, parents, and the public are welcome to attend the festival for free.

Payment Deadline and Refund Policy: Payments are due to NCTC by 5:00pm on March 4. It is the responsibility of the participant to ensure that payment is made to NCTC, it is not the responsibility of NCTC to obtain payment. It is not necessary to send a purchase order to NCTC and please do not ask any school administrative staff to contact NCTC regarding payment. No refunds will be given and you commit to paying fees when you register. Even if you cancel your show, your payment must be made or your school will not be permitted to register for future NCTC programs and festivals.

You may send a check to the address below, or pay online via PayPal or Google Checkout with a credit card (links will be provided upon registration).
