Angie Hays, Executive Director, North Carolina Theatre Conference
Angie has been the leader of NCTC since 2007. In this time she has also served as an adjunct professor of Arts Administration at Greensboro College and Elon University, and as a guest lecturer at the UNC School of the Arts, Wake Forest University, Appalachian State University and Salem College. Prior to her career at NCTC, she worked as the Audience Development and Communications Manager at Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey, Fundraising Campaign Coordinator for the Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County, Associate General Manager for the UNCSA Summer Performance Festival, Director of the Children’s and Promotional Divisions at the Docherty Agency in Pittsburgh, and Casting Director for Porthouse Theatre in Ohio. She has served on the ARTS NC Board of Directors, the national Free Night of Theater steering committee for Theatre Communications Group (TCG) and on grant panels for the North Carolina Arts Council and the Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County. Angie was a featured blogger in the TCG “What If…” series. She regularly serves as a consultant with NC theatre companies and colleges, primarily focusing on board training, strategic planning, leadership transition, and recruitment strategies. Angie earned a BA in Theatre from Kent State University and a MFA in Performing Arts Management from the UNC School of the Arts (where she was presented with an Alumni Achievement Award in 2010).
Richard Whittington, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Triad Stage
Rich has served as Managing Director of Triad Stage since its inception. Rich earned a MFA in Theatre Management from the Yale School of Drama and has a BFA in Acting and Directing from Marymount Manhattan College. In 2007, Rich was appointed by the Governor to serve on the board of the NC Arts Council where he is currently a member of the Executive Committee. He has previously served on the boards of ARTS NC and Downtown Greensboro, Inc. and has served on numerous grant panels throughout the state as well as for the National Endowment for the Arts. Rich has taught Theatre Management at Greensboro College and NC A&T University and has guest lectured at UNC-Chapel Hill, UNC School of the Arts, Wake Forest University and UNC-Greensboro. A native of Dallas, Texas, Rich previously served as Managing Director for the Ensemble Company for the Performing Arts (ECPA), as Artistic Administrator for the Dallas Theater Center and Associate Producer of Dallas’ The Big D Festival of the Unexpected. Prior experience also includes work at the Roundabout Theatre in New York and StageWest in Springfield, Massachusetts.
