Producing Theatre Gathering

July 22-24 at PlayMakers Repertory Company in Chapel Hill.

New Pre-Conference Event for K-12 Educators: Producing for the Play Festival - July 22

Check this page frequently, as more updates and registration information will be posted soon.

What is the Producing Gathering and who should attend?

The Producing Theatre Gathering is a professional development and networking event for the leaders and administrators of NC’s Professional and Community Theatres. There are three key elements to the gathering – informative roundtable discussions, exciting sessions led by expert presenters, and fun, casual networking events. Group discounts are available and we encourage you to bring your senior staff, as well as board members and future leaders!

Educators are also an important part of this event. K-12 and College instructors know that teaching theatre is so much more than teaching acting and production skills. Theatre students need to understand the landscape of the field and the challenges their future employers are facing. Educators come to this event to learn the latest for their classroom discussions, and to build relationships with theatre companies.

What is the Producing for the Play Festival event?

This new, pre-conference event is designed for Middle School and High School teachers. The event is a how-to guide, on making your NCTC Play Festival experience as fun and successful as it can possibly be. The agenda will be announced in the coming weeks, but topics may include: play selection, design, making the most of adjudication, staging, fundraising for travel and more. This will also be a great opportunity for you to invite colleagues who are not participating in the festival, to learn more about the event.
