College Discovery Day will be held on November 23, 2013 at Greensboro College
College Discovery Day is the biggest event in the state that connects you with NC high school students, specifically interested in studying theatre. You will showcase your program through panel discussions, you can provide coaching to younger students, and students can choose to audition for you or present portfolios at the event! This is the best in-state opportunity to recruit for your school and to network with your colleagues from across the state!
New for 2012: Auditions are now open to grades 9-12; new workshops and panels; new Design and Production awards presented at the regional NCTC High School Play Festivals and these students receive full scholarships to attend College Discovery Day; the Outstanding Actor and Actress at each regional Play Festival also receive full scholarships to attend!
Can we bring college students to assist with recruiting?
Yes, we hope you will! College students are the best recruiters for your program and they can attend for College Discovery Day for free! College students will not receive a lunch ticket, but can pay and eat in the cafeteria, or find several quick dining options on Tate Street.
Wear Your Gear!
The NCTC Board and Staff will be wearing shirts that represent their alma mater (if they graduated from a NC college). You should feel free to wear a shirt representing your school or whatever makes you comfortable.
Download Dropbox and Bring Your Laptops, iPads, Etc.
We are going green! This year, instead of giving you a packet of student photos and resumes, we are providing you with online access to these materials. You’ll need to download Dropbox and save the files to your computer. Greensboro College offers wireless access, but save files ahead of time to avoid any on-site internet issues. Go ahead download the program by going to www.dropbox.com. We’ll email you when files are available. We encourage you to bring the files on a laptop or tablet, or you could choose to print copies. Students who register at the door are asked to bring hard copies of their materials.
Where will our booths bet set-up?
Due to the large amount of colleges and your requests for more space and quieter conversations, we will have three locations for booths this year – the Odell Lobby, the Huggins Stage, and the Cowan Lobby. These locations are very close together and we will drive traffic to each spot by posting audition callbacks in each location (and having volunteers directing traffic flow). Building assignments will be made in advance and referenced in the program, so students and parents know where to find you.
