What is NCTC College Discovery Day?
College Discovery Day is an all-inclusive theatre event bringing students and collegiate theatre departments together in one place. Colleges from all over North Carolina and surrounding states are invited to view high school students’ auditions and portfolios while having ample time to mingle with students at our College Fair.
Why should I attend College Discovery Day?
NCTC College Discovery Day is the only event in the state that connects high school students and their parents to NC’s College and University Theatre Programs. At the event, you’ll have the opportunity to watch auditions, review portfolios and showcase your program to underclassmen and seniors who want to meet you! This is a great opportunity to recruit your incoming class and connect with your colleagues from all across the state!
Who should my school bring to College Discovery Day?
We recommend bringing at least 3 faculty/staff members to College Discovery Day, to take full advantage of the recruitment opportunities. Several things happen simultaneously at this busy event and you won’t want to miss any of the action! In the morning, you’ll need a representative at the College Fair tour, while another faculty member is doing Portfolio Reviews, and a third person is watching Grades 9-11 Auditions. For the afternoon, you’ll want to have a representative in the Senior Auditions, while another faculty/staff member is at your table at the College Fair. The more representation for your school = the more interaction you’ll have with students and parents!
We also encourage you to bring current college students with you to provide an inside look at your program. Students love to hear from their peers! College students do not need to register and you will not pay a fee for them to attend. Lunch is not provided for college students but there are several walkable lunch options.
Several things happen simultaneously at this busy event, so plan wisely and efficiently!
